Blues Festival Rotorua 2015

bluesThe Bay of Plenty Blues Club is once again running its annual Blues Festival in Rotorua down on Eat Street. Starting on the 27th of May at 7.30pm, and running through the entire Queen’s Birthday Weekend (finishing up at 3pm Monday 1st June), all events on Eat Street and in bars are free entry.

This year The Bay of Plenty Blues Club is proud to announce the securing of Platinum award winning artist Hollie Smith. Hollie will perform on Eat Street on the afternoon of Saturday the 30th.

International artists for 2015 are Isaiah Brunt and Andy Phillips. Isaiah was Sydney Blues Society ‘Artist of the Year’ in 2010. He has just released his new album recorded in Memphis the Blues Capital of the world and will be featuring tracks from the album as part of his show.

Andy Phillips and Cadillac Walk are no strangers to Rotorua Blues Festival, having played here last year on the ‘Blues Cruise’ Lakeland Queen. Andy will be performing in Eat Street venues over the long weekend.

Rotorua Blues Festival 2015 will also feature many New Zealand acts including the ever popular Recliner Rockers from Auckland with their electric double bass and guitar audience participation. Plus Broken Stone from Gisborne, the B Side Band from Tauranga, Mike Garner Band, Fifth Sun, Mud Sticks and Hammer on, Say What, Bop Blues Youth Band and many more solo and duo artists.

Youth Workshops will also be running on Saturday and Sunday afternoons with Isaiah Brunt and Andy Phillips.

 

Blues Cruise – Lakeland Queen

Once again, the Blues Cruise will be running on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.

Enjoy a great afternoon of blues on the famous Lakeland Queen, taking in the great scenic views of Lake Rotorua, and the magnificent sunsets, sipping on a glass of wine, and listening to some great musicians.

Hammer On, and Isaiah Brunt (Australia) will be playing on board on Saturday 30th May.

Fifth Sun and Andy Phillips (Australia) with the Engine Room will be playing on board on Sunday 31st May.

Limited tickets are available for the Blues Cruise, so it is recommended you book early to avoid disappointment.
